Municipal Treasurer
The Municipality of Skagway is accepting applications for the position of Municipal Treasurer. This is a full-time year round position, working 40 hours per week and is eligible for benefits.
WAGE RANGE: Grade: 17, Step One Entry Level Range $26.75 per hour
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Bachelor’s Degree with college courses in Accounting, Finance Management, Account Funds, Budgeting, and Grants Administration preferred.
· Three (3) years experience in accounting.
· Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
· Knowledge of accounting practices, including internal controls
· Knowledge of accounting software, specifically MIP Fund Accounting Software
· Ability to use personal computers, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
· Good organization, written and verbal skills.
· Must be bondable.
DUTIES:
This position is under the direction of the Municipal Manager.
· Responsible for management of accounting and finance management for all city funds.
· Prepares and supervises the preparation of financial statements and reports, including grant funds.
· Maintains operation of general accounting system and records of assets, liabilities and financial transactions; reconciles accounts.
· Assists in budget data preparation.
· Supervises the audit as to correctness of records, deposits, vouchers, etc.
· Responsible for compliance of all grant funds for all departments.
· Performs duties as assigned.
· Timely financial reporting is required.
