Fire Chief, Bristol Bay Borough

General:
Coordinate and teach continuing education programs for public safety officials, fire, rescue squad and ambulance personnel or new techniques in emergency funding and planning. Prepare appropriate grant applications and administer grants. Develop and administer annual budget. Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for the training of the Borough Fire Department and is responsible for the training, support and supervision. A critical component of this position is the administration of the Emergency Services Department including annual budgeting, needs assessment, and budget management. This position supervises summer medical personnel, provides emergency medical service, operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.

Positions Supervised: Volunteer Fire Department Responders, One full time Employee and Seasonal EMS.
Step Classifications: DOE


Qualifications:
Certificates; Fire Fighter I (minimum) E.M.T. II, (minimum) but preference will be given to candidates with Advanced Life Support certification. Must be 21 years of age. Must possess a valid Alaska Driver’s license. No felony or disqualifying criminal history. Must pass a complete physical exam, Drug Test, and demonstrate excellent physical health.
