City of Thorne Bay

Administrator
The City of
Thorne Bay is accepting applications for the position of City Administrator and
has established a closing date of May 31, 2008, at 4:30 PM. After closing, a selection committee will
review the applications, conduct background checks and make a selection. This position is a full-time, permanent
position with a starting wage of between $50,000 and $70,000, DOE. A full benefit package is available. Pre-employment drug testing is required. Preferred qualifications include; degree in
civil engineering, public administration, planning, or related field and
minimum 3 years experience in local government planning or in
administration. A strong background in
remote Southeast Alaska is a plus. Relevant experience may be substituted for
the education requirements. Duties
include; supervision of designated City employees, development of a 5 year and
10 year strategic plan for economic development, annual budget preparation and
tracking, city planning & zoning administration, code violations identification
and enforcement, work with federal, state & other municipal officials in
order to gather information needed for City projects, grant writing and
contract preparation. This position will
be supervised by the Mayor and will work closely with the City council and City
Clerk to direct the day-to-day operation of the City. Applicants must have excellent oral and
written communication skills, and be able to work cooperatively with the
public, the council members and the city staff.
A working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office software
is required. Strong project research
abilities with report writing and delivering presentation are also required.
