AML Renew America’s Schools Project
Energy security and affordability projects will significantly enhance the quality of life in Alaska’s municipalities by reducing dependence on expensive and unstable fuel imports. These initiatives are intended to help lower energy costs for residents, especially in remote and rural communities where prices are often much higher. Through partnerships with state and federal agencies, these investments can improve quality of life, create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and build more durable infrastructure suited to the challenging environments experienced across the state. Overall, these projects will support long-term community resilience by making energy more accessible, reliable, and affordable for Alaskans.

Project Description:

Goals & Objectives

This project helps three local educational agencies (LEAs) evaluate and improve energy performance in local schools. Through energy assessments, efficiency and conservation planning, and efficiency upgrades, the project aims to:

  1. Increase energy efficiency of all school buildings and lower energy costs for LEAs
  2. Reduce diesel fuel consumption for power and heating and lower carbon emissions
  3. Lead to more economically delivered power to community facilities and reduce the energy burden
