Why a tax conference and why now?

Communities across Alaska face increasing needs and local governments are asked to take on greater responsibilities that are often unfunded by the state and federal government. The Alaska Municipal League (AML) is committed to helping municipalities navigate through these challenges.

The 2025 Alaska Municipal Tax Conference will feature in-depth conversations around innovative tax strategies, emerging issues affecting taxpayers and businesses, and the shifting fiscal landscape faced by Alaska’s local governments. Part of our goals in hosting this is to describe different and more efficient or effective tax administration.

Tax structures in place across Alaska’s municipalities need periodic review and refinement to remain effective and fair. This conference provides a platform for municipal leaders to share insights, learn from peers in similar situations, and explore data-driven solutions. AML plays a crucial role in facilitating this dialogue while empowering local officials to make informed decisions that will best serve their communities.
