POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Engineering and Facilities is a full-time exempt position. This position is directly responsible for planning, administering, coordinating, and performing a variety of functions related to the operations and maintenance of Borough-owned facilities that include buildings and grounds, parks, roads, and the landfill. Responsibilities include construction, project, and contract management; preventive maintenance programs, preparation and oversight of budgets; and supervision of staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience related to the job and includes supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Applicants should have an understanding of current commercial construction principles and practices; building systems; preventive maintenance programs; project management; contracting standards, OSHA standards, and leadership principles.
SALARY
Starting salary is $109,138 – $121,004 annually, DOQ; full salary range is $109,138 – $164,915 annually. *
*Employees are eligible for annual salary increases upon a satisfactory performance evaluation, up to the top of the salary range.

EMPLOYER
The Kodiak Island Borough (KIB) is a regional local government with offices located in the City of Kodiak. KIB is comprised of seven operating departments and an average of 45 employees. The Engineering and Facilities Department is responsible for the management of Borough-owned facilities and grounds; administration of capital and major maintenance construction projects; administration and management of construction grants; all aspects of Solid Waste Management (Landfill operations, garbage collection, and recycling); and oversight of the Interpretive Center and Community Aquarium at the Kodiak Fisheries Research Center.
