Fiscal Policy
Alaska Municipal League is building on past work (2015-16) to develop and address sustainable fiscal policy. The ongoing budgetary challenges faced by the State of Alaska imperil the health of local governments, the well-being of residents, and local economic development. AML recognizes the need to be in a position to advise on and inform sustainable State fiscal policy that minimizes negative impacts to local governments.
AML has organized a Fiscal Policy Working Group that over the course of 2020 and 2021 will:
• Review current state of State’s fiscal condition, and component elements
• Identify areas of concern and priorities
• Describe impact of policy decisions, at state and local level
• Develop potential recommendations
• Assist in consensus-building within membership
