Anchorage, Alaska – Every year since 1950, the Alaska Municipal League has brought together municipal officials and local government leaders for the Annual Local Government Conference. This year more than 500 local government officials will come together to learn, network, and collaborate on efforts to address shared challenges.

The 73rd Annual AML Local Government Conference will be held from December 6-8, 2023, at the Dena’ina Center in Downtown Anchorage. The conference aims to equip Alaska’s local governments with the necessary resources and training to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency for the benefit of their residents. The agenda includes a mix of plenary and breakout sessions, complemented by an exhibitor area to ensure that participants are able learn more in-depth about a variety of topics and receive relevant information to strengthen their local government.

A highlight of the conference is the Annual Business Meeting, which provides a unique opportunity for Alaska’s local government leaders to finalize elections for the AML board of directors, deliberate on legislative positions and address resolutions for the upcoming year.

As an integral part of the conference, AML conducts the annual Newly Elected Officials training, designed to bring the state’s newest municipal officials up to speed on effective engagement within their local government. Additionally, the Conference serves as a venue for AML’s Affiliate Members to hold their annual meetings and events, drawing nearly 1,000 participants over the course of six days.
