Utility Operator

The City of Soldotna has an immediate opening for an Operator in the Utility Department. Operator- Range 13 $29.56-$41.39, or Operator I- Range 14 $31.32-$43.85, or Operator II- Range 15 $33.73-$47.24, DOE.
The Utility Operator is under the general direction and supervision of the Utility Department Manager; or his/her designee; the operator is responsible for regular and recurring responsibilities related to the operation and maintenance of Soldotna’s Wastewater Treatment Plant, Water Treatment, and the Distribution/Collection Systems. Work schedule includes Monday through Friday, some holidays, and an on-call rotation with some weekend work. A weekly work schedule will be prepared on an as needed basis and may include shift work. Shift work is defined as late night, early morning and/or week-end hours.

An applicant hired by the City of Soldotna is eligible for up to $7,500 hiring bonus*:

• Up to $7,500 in lateral incentive bonus for applicants holding current State of Alaska DEC certifications as follows:
  • $2,500 for AK DEC Operator II certification in Water Distribution;
  • $2,500 for AK DEC Operator III certification in Wastewater Collection; and
  • $2,500 for AK DEC Operator III certification in Wastewater Treatment.

An applicant hired by the City of Soldotna may also be eligible for up to $7,500 reimbursement for relocation expenses*:

• Up to $5,000 for eligible in-state relocation expenses (if relocating from outside the central Kenai Peninsula), or up to $7,500 for eligible out-of-state relocation expenses.

*Reimbursement request for eligible relocation expenses must be accompanied by written receipts. Lateral incentive bonus will be paid upon successful completion of the probationary period.
